ARTIST/GEOLOGIST

My name is Tina Marja Hariu and I am a freelance artist and geologist living in beautiful Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have been painting for over twenty years since completion of my formal education in Commercial Art. My fine art has been exhibited in juried local and international competitions. Most of the mural work you see herein has been painted in private residences across the Bay area; however, I have expanded my work to include commissioned commercial work of both murals and custom fine art for Bay Area businesses.

In the past few years, I have participated in:

• Fund raising projects for the Neil Cummins Elementary and Hall Middle Schools (please visit the Neil Cummins Library to see a fun-filled kids' mural painted to help my school district in Marin County)
• The Marin Arts Council as Artist
• Four Marin Designers' Showcases as Designer and Muralist
• The Marin Society of Artists' (MSA) Advisory Committee
• MSA art shows as Juror
• Numerous juried shows as Artist

On the other side of the brain... I also have been occupied with the natural sciences for the past 20 years or so. I have both Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in Geology, am a Professional Geologist and Certified Hydrogeologist in the State of California, and have started an environmental awareness web site for kids: Polar Ice Capz Kids Club (http://www.PolarIceCapz.com).
